Vila Palmeiras FC's Afonso Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aluísio Cardozo in the 5th minute of play. In the 6thth minute of the game Aluísio Cardozo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vila Palmeiras FC's Afonso Trancoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 7th match minute, Vila Palmeiras FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo Renato de Amaral to maneuver through the defense. Aluísio Cardozo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Trancoso having to interfere. After having played for 14 minutes, Aluísio Cardozo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Iauacana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aluísio Cardozo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 18 minutes in the game, Gláuber Massa dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Gláuber Massa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aluísio Cardozo in the 35th minute of play forced Vila Palmeiras FC's goalkeeper Afonso Trancoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee gave Paulo Renato de Amaral a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vito do Nascimento during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Anselmo Esteves was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Frederico Cardoso. Flavinho Cunha charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Flavinho Cunha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 44 played minutes Vila Palmeiras FC got a freekick which was hit by Flavinho Cunha. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gláuber Massa to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Vila Palmeiras FC's zone, Aluísio Cardozo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Afonso Trancoso came out of the goal and Aluísio Cardozo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gláuber Massa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Afonso Trancoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Afonso Trancoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gláuber Massa's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. With a little luck, Vila Palmeiras FC's Afonso Trancoso got control of the ball when Aluísio Cardozo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 80th match minute, Vila Palmeiras FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júnior Passos to maneuver through the defense. 81 minutes into the match, Vila Palmeiras FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gláuber Massa came free, but Afonso Trancoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Afonso Trancoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gláuber Massa, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Aluísio Cardozo struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Afonso Trancoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Iauacana. 86 minutes into the match, Vila Palmeiras FC's goalkeeper Afonso Trancoso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aluísio Cardozo. A collision led to Iauacana getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Vito do Nascimento hit a great ball. Vila Palmeiras FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Iauacana had controlled the match.
