The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute Nilson Britto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damian Podolski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Paulo Fernandez in the 11th minute of play forced Frutuoso's goalkeeper Belmiro de Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Frutuoso's zone, José Paulo Fernandez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Belmiro de Carvalho came out of the goal and José Paulo Fernandez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. José Paulo Fernandez charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Paulo Fernandez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 16 played minutes Itapitacai AD got a freekick which was hit by José Paulo Fernandez. After 20 played minutes Frutuoso got a freekick which was hit by Jeferson Gaspar. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Frutuoso's goalkeeper Belmiro de Carvalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Itapitacai AD's Rafael Arruda got a free kick in the 24th minute. In the 29th minute of the match Chaisiri Saejeer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Belmiro de Carvalho skillfully saved the ball. In the 30th minute Nilson Britto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damian Podolski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 32 minutes into the game, Nilson Britto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Damian Podolski was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Paulo Fernandez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Damian Podolski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laerte Britto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rafael Arruda hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Damian Podolski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nuno Hames in the 56th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Itapitacai AD's José Paulo Fernandez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Belmiro de Carvalho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kauã Corrêa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Belmiro de Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Frutuoso booed when Itapitacai AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinho Moreno didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nilson Britto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frutuoso's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Itapitacai AD had won, even though Frutuoso had held more of the ball.
