Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Nilson Britto took the kick off in the first half of the match. Belmiro de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dito Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Varzedo EC's Túlio Nascimento got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th of the match, Nilson Britto tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Geovanni Maia got in the way and made a wonderful save. When Varzedo EC's Dito Alcântara in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Frutuoso's goalie prevented a goal. In the 28th minute, Túlio Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Varzedo EC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Perivaldo Oliveira hit a great ball. After 32 minutes of play, Varzedo EC's Durvalino Nogueira made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Belmiro de Carvalho was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dito Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Belmiro de Carvalho having to interfere. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Frutuoso's goalkeeper Belmiro de Carvalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nilson Britto had several of the Varzedo EC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 47 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-1 score and a disappointed Geovanni Maia as he didn't even see the shot coming. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

If Dito Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 55th minute, Túlio Nascimento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Varzedo EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Dito Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Belmiro de Carvalho having to interfere. In the 71st minute Túlio Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Belmiro de Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Nuno Hames came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Frutuoso fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Hames couldn't finish the play. Laerte Britto kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Belmiro de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Túlio Nascimento in the 83rd minute of play. Dito Alcântara's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Belmiro de Carvalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Dito Alcântara in the 90thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Belmiro de Carvalho, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When the match clock showed 91 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Dito Alcântara sped through Frutuoso's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Belmiro de Carvalho. In the 96th minute, Túlio Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Frutuoso supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Varzedo EC's performance. The match ended with a win for Varzedo EC.
