Garajuba EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grêmio Maringá the free kick. The Garajuba EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Patrick Duarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. After a rather tough play, Grêmio Maringá's Luís Gustavo Araújo got a free kick in the 29th minute. Dedé Rossi, 29 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Giovanni Proença sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 32nd minute, Cacá Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Agnaldo Félix hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. If Giovanni Proença had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Grêmio Maringá's Orlando Terra got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Inácio Meirelles's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 44thth minute, André Luís Dantas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giovanni Proença in the 48th minute of play forced Grêmio Maringá's goalkeeper André Luís Dantas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Grêmio Maringá's André Luís Dantas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inácio Meirelles in the 64th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Orlando Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio Maringá's supporters rose to their feet, but Orlando Terra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronaldão da Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Agnaldo Félix kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match.
