The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Paulo José Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilmar Maia, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Jinipabu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Téo Alvarenga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 19 minutes, Gerson Vinhas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jinipabu and the Flamengo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Gerson Vinhas kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute Nilmar Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo José Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Flamengo's Paulo José Negri got control of the ball when Pedro Augusto de Carvalho tried to sneak it across the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, Vicente Tepedino dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Paulo José Negri, 1-1. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Digo de Alcântara helped the player get up and apologised.
