In the 5th minute, Ivo Secco made a precise shot to the right of Cacá de Almeida. Fundao's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 11th minute of the match, Tostão Batista tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Paulo José Negri saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 17th minute, Raphael Paraense reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Paulo José Negri. The goal made the score 1-1. Téo Alvarenga took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cacá de Almeida. Cacá de Almeida dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 27th minute Tostão Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo José Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulo José Negri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raphael Paraense in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Raphael Paraense left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fundao fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. In the 32nd minute of the match, Tostão Batista tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Paulo José Negri saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, Flamengo's Diego Chaves got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Paulo José Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raphael Paraense, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raphael Paraense in the 36th minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper Paulo José Negri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fundao's Cacá de Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Téo Alvarenga in the 37th minute of play. Paulo José Negri was out of position in the 39 minute of play, and Tostão Batista capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Tostão Batista really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Válter Seco during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Válter Seco kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

The wind increased when Tostão Batista made the kick off in the second half. Cacá de Almeida stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ivo Secco's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. In the 59th minute, Tostão Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ivo Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cacá de Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivo Secco in the 62nd minute of the match. If Luís Guilherme Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 65th minute Tostão Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo José Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulo José Negri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tostão Batista in the 69th minute of play. Paulo José Negri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tostão Batista in the 72nd minute of the match. 73 minutes into the match, Flamengo's Ivo Secco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cacá de Almeida narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 76 minutes into the game, Raphael Paraense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fundao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Flamengo the free kick. Ronaldo Cordeiro hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Perivaldo Figueiredo hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. 91 minutes into the game, Luís Guilherme Pinho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Paulo José Negri was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 96th minute, Luís Guilherme Pinho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulo José Negri was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-2. For all the effort they put into the match, the Flamengo players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Fundao.
