Salao's Célio Prado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Eduardo Veiga in the 10th minute of play. Carlos Eduardo Veiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Prado having to interfere. If Josué Hoffmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Salao getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Ramiro Cavalcante hit a great ball. Nicolas Cordeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giovani Reis in the 30th minute of play. After some careless play in the Salao defense, Josué Hoffmann kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Célio Prado. The Salao fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Célio Prado should have stopped the shot. In the 40th minute, Carlos Eduardo Veiga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 44 played minutes Salao got a freekick which was hit by Alfredinho Jacinto. 45 minutes into the match, real madrid's Zé Pedro Goiano broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 48 minutes into the match, real madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Giovani Reis came free, but Nicolas Cordeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Giovani Reis to make the kick off. Tostão Gerber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Eduardo Veiga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 64 played minutes, Salao's Nando Botelho shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nicolas Cordeiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Salao reached it. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Josué Hoffmann managed to get in a good position for a shot. real madrid's supporters rose to their feet, but Josué Hoffmann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
