The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Corinthians Paulista. The goalkeeper, Luizão Terra, was totally fooled by Fojo's César de Salles, who 5 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Wilton Messias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Luizão Terra made a huge save. Luizão Terra didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Fojo's Sílvio Antunes shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-0 in the ordered_time% minute. Vânderson Sampaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Luizão Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Fojo's Sílvio Antunes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luizão Terra narrowly saved just below the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

A collision led to SC Corinthians Paulista getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Nelsinho Carvalho hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the game, Tostão Guimarães was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fojo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Corinthians Paulista the free kick. In the 60th minute, Tostão Guimarães hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Fojo's Sílvio Antunes in the 64th minute got a chance for a shot 64th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Luizão Terra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilton Messias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luizão Terra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Messias in the 73rd minute of play. Tales Madureira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute.
