Olimpico's Luizão Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Pereira in the 14th minute of play. Luizão Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dino Veiga in the 16th minute of play. After 19 played minutes Olimpico got a freekick which was hit by Belmiro Mello. 20 minutes into the match, Olimpico's goal looked a bit too open when Genílson Tróia came free, but Luizão Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dino Veiga in the 22nd minute of play forced Olimpico's goalkeeper Luizão Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anísio Damião made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Washington Terra sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Irati SS's Dino Veiga got a free kick in the 26th minute. After some careless play in the Olimpico defense, Ismael Matorin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luizão Neves. The Olimpico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luizão Neves should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Washington Terra made the kick off in the second half. Jaime Soeiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Anísio Damião. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jaime Soeiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Perivaldo de Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dino Veiga was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 57th minute. Irati SS's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Ismael Matorin scored 0-2 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luizão Neves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Perivaldo de Alcântara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 82 minutes into the match, Dino Veiga dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luizão Neves, 1-3. 86 minutes into the match, Irati SS's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo de Alcântara came free, but Anísio Damião reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 96th minute, Washington Terra ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Anísio Damião was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Olimpico lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
