Osvaldo Costa hit a great ball. Natã Brasil made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Marcinho de Lima sent off a good shot on target. If Marcinho de Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 8th minute, Gongogi's Samuel Gomes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Natã Brasil. Natã Brasil yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Natã Brasil was out of position in the 13 minute of play, and Samuel Gomes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Samuel Gomes really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jânio Ferreira in the 17th minute of play forced Gongogi's goalkeeper Severino Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Osmar Dracena hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Donatello Carneiro struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Severino Marques didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marataizes. After 38 minutes Marataizes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gonçalo da Silva who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Gonçalo da Silva got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Natã Brasil quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
The wind increased when Jânio Ferreira made the kick off in the second half. Gongogi's Marcinho de Lima got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Samuel Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jânio Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 69th minute, Jânio Ferreira reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Severino Marques. The goal made the score 3-1. The supporters of Marataizes booed when Gongogi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Nunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Natã Brasil made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Gongogi fans cheered their team off the field, for while Marataizes had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
