A collision led to SC SHOWRINTHIANS PAULISTA getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Gildo Massa hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundo Viana in the 8th minute of play forced SC SHOWRINTHIANS PAULISTA's goalkeeper Ediberto Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Caco de Lara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ediberto Lopes. SC SHOWRINTHIANS PAULISTA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Caco de Lara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Caco de Lara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Valdo Prata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pedrão de Carvalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wieslaw Puszynski having to interfere. Caco de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Ediberto Lopes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caco de Lara in the 26th minute of play forced SC SHOWRINTHIANS PAULISTA's goalkeeper Ediberto Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Gildo Massa fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC SHOWRINTHIANS PAULISTA's protests and gave Gildo Massa a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Grossos SS booed when SC SHOWRINTHIANS PAULISTA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gildo Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Grossos SS fans' excitement grew in the 42nd match minute when Grossos SS's Caco de Lara looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After the first half Grossos SS were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Alberto Nunes made a kick off. Grossos SS's Caco de Lara got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Alberto Nunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 58th play minute Raimundo Viana came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ediberto Lopes. 0-3. SC SHOWRINTHIANS PAULISTA's Ediberto Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caco de Lara in the 62nd minute of play. When the match had been going on for 63 minutes Valdo Prata shot a great shot from long distance. It looked like a certain goal, but the audience witnessed a really smashing save by Ediberto Lopes when he caught the ball only just under the crossbar. Ediberto Lopes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco de Lara in the 67th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in SC SHOWRINTHIANS PAULISTA's zone, Valdo Prata stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ediberto Lopes came out of the goal and Valdo Prata tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Caco de Lara took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ediberto Lopes. Ediberto Lopes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Caco de Lara in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ediberto Lopes saved SC SHOWRINTHIANS PAULISTA from getting behind. Filipe Carvalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Grossos SS's Wieslaw Puszynski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Nunes in the 83rd minute of play. After having played for 85 minutes, Valdo Prata managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grossos SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valdo Prata was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 91st minute Caco de Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ediberto Lopes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
