The audience thought a goal was coming when Caco de Lara got free with Betinho das Neves in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Caco de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caco de Lara who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 11thth minute tested the skills of Betinho das Neves when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Betinho das Neves made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Raimundo Viana sent off a good shot on target. When Raimundo Viana came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Grossos SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raimundo Viana couldn't finish the play. Caco de Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute of the match Washington Pontes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Wieslaw Puszynski skillfully saved the ball. In the 28th match minute, Americanense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afonsinho Cardoso to maneuver through the defense. Grossos SS's Caco de Lara got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tales Amaral made in the 35th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Benjamim Nascimento immediately put the ball in play. Isaltino Palmeira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wieslaw Puszynski having to make a save. 40 minutes into the match, Grossos SS's Caco de Lara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Betinho das Neves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Valdo Prata struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Betinho das Neves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grossos SS. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Caco de Lara was the one to do the kick off. If Júlio Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Isaltino Palmeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wieslaw Puszynski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Veloso, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. The supporters of Grossos SS booed when Americanense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Washington de Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 71st minute, Júlio Veloso reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Wieslaw Puszynski. The goal made the score 1-1. Júlio Veloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wieslaw Puszynski having to interfere. Wieslaw Puszynski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Veloso in the 78th minute of play. Isaltino Palmeira struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Wieslaw Puszynski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Americanense FC. When Isaltino Palmeira came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Americanense FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isaltino Palmeira couldn't finish the play.
