An unexpectedly hard shot by Dedê Amaral in the 6th minute of play forced VILA NOVA F.C.'s goalkeeper Olavo de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manoel Favoretto made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Bruninho Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. In the 12th minute Tião Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olavo de Andrade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. VILA NOVA F.C.'s Olavo de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedê Amaral in the 13th minute of play. If Alfredão Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the match, Barranca's goalkeeper Manoel Favoretto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bruninho Montenegro. The audience was convinced that Tião Berger's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olavo de Andrade was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. In the 24th minute, Andrézinho Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dedê Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olavo de Andrade having to interfere. After 35 minutes of play, Barranca's Dedê Amaral made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Olavo de Andrade was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dedê Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

After 51 minutes, Hortêncio Sarmento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Barranca and the VILA NOVA F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Barranca's Hortêncio Sarmento got a free kick in the 51st minute. Dedê Amaral scored 0-2 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Olavo de Andrade, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Dedê Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barranca's supporters rose to their feet, but Dedê Amaral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olavo de Andrade breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dedê Amaral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Olavo de Andrade made a huge save. A hard shot 65 in the game by Dedê Amaral from a close distance when the talented Olavo de Andrade managed to make a qualified save. VILA NOVA F.C.'s players were relieved. Olavo de Andrade stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tião Berger's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. If Dedê Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruninho Montenegro in the 71st minute of play forced Barranca's goalkeeper Manoel Favoretto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dedê Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 84th minute, Dedê Amaral made a precise shot to the right of Olavo de Andrade. VILA NOVA F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. When Tião Berger in the 90th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Olavo de Andrade kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 0-4 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Dedê Amaral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
