After a rather tough play, Itapemirim S.A.'s Arthur Mineiro got a free kick in the 21st minute. 23 minutes into the match, Flamengo's Luciano Fantini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dalmo Souza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arthur Mineiro in the 27th minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper Gláuber de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gláuber de Andrade yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vitório Queiroz made a kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match Thomás Capixaba shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gláuber de Andrade showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 55th minute Dudu Urbano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gláuber de Andrade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gláuber de Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arthur Mineiro in the 59th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Mário Brasil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 62 minutes into the match, Flamengo's goal looked a bit too open when Dudu Urbano came free, but Gláuber de Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dudu Urbano scored 3-1 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gláuber de Andrade, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Itapemirim S.A.'s zone, Luciano Fantini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dalmo Souza came out of the goal and Luciano Fantini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gláuber de Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aníbal Amaral in the 72nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Flamengo's zone, Mário Brasil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gláuber de Andrade came out of the goal and Mário Brasil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Itapemirim S.A.'s supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
