The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Silvério Capixaba helped the player get up and apologised. Silvério Capixaba kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Ronaldão Diniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horácio Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldão Diniz in the 14th minute of play. Silvério Capixaba might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sandro Silva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silvério Capixaba ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Sergi FC's zone, Silvério Capixaba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sandro Silva came out of the goal and Silvério Capixaba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 30 minutes into the match, Cipriano Vianna notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Polungu SS's Horácio Cabral. Horácio Cabral was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Sergi FC's Sandro Silva got control of the ball when Luís Fábio de Azevedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Fernando Tróia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Horácio Cabral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ronaldão Diniz struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Horácio Cabral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sergi FC. 0-4 became the score in the 57th minute when Cipriano Vianna elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Ronaldão Diniz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 64 minutes into the game, Jarbas Pires was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sergi FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Polungu SS the free kick. Sandro Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Fábio de Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Sergi FC's Sandro Silva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fábio de Azevedo in the 67th minute of play. João Carlos Rocha hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. A collision led to Polungu SS getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Sílvio Luís Barbosa hit a great ball. Horácio Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cipriano Vianna in the 86th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Ronaldão Diniz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
