Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) When Durval Catarinense came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Universidade Capixaba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Durval Catarinense couldn't finish the play. João Augusto Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hamílton de Moraes having to interfere. 10 minutes into the match, Universidade Capixaba's goal looked a bit too open when Manfredo Viana came free, but Eliézer Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilberto Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. Palmeiras's Hamílton de Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Durval Catarinense in the 18th minute of play. With a little luck, Universidade Capixaba's Eliézer Neves got control of the ball when Hamílton Branco tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manfredo Viana in the 21st minute of play forced Universidade Capixaba's goalkeeper Eliézer Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Durval Catarinense came free, but Hamílton de Moraes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hamílton Branco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Eliézer Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hamílton Brancos short, quick shot in the 38thth minute got Eliézer Neves to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Manfredo Viana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliézer Neves having to interfere. Eliézer Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manfredo Viana in the 46th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Kiko Carioca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliézer Neves having to interfere. Eliézer Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hamílton Branco's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hamílton Branco in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eliézer Neves saved Universidade Capixaba from getting behind. 61 minutes into the game, Luiz Gustavo Pirani was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Universidade Capixaba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palmeiras the free kick. A collision led to Universidade Capixaba getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Luiz Gustavo Pirani hit a great ball. Eliézer Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manfredo Viana in the 63rd minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Universidade Capixaba's goal looked a bit too open when Hamílton Branco came free, but Eliézer Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Manfredo Viana in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eliézer Neves saved Universidade Capixaba from getting behind. After 72 played minutes Universidade Capixaba got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldinho Fernandez. 83 minutes into the match, Manfredo Viana had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eliézer Neves. Universidade Capixaba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Manfredo Viana was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 87th minute, Manfredo Viana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manfredo Viana in the 89th minute of play forced Universidade Capixaba's goalkeeper Eliézer Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Miguel Gaspar's late challenge caught a Universidade Capixaba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miguel Gaspar helped the player get up and apologised. 93 minutes into the game, one of Palmeiras:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The score was 1-1 after a penalty in the 96th minute, where Universidade Capixaba:s Fellipe Ortiz tricked Palmeiras:s Hamílton de Moraes with a difficult ball by the left post. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
