Jacinto Veiga hit a great ball. 4 minutes into the match, Malhadas's Dráuzio Paraíba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Norberto Neto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Lauro Favoretto fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Universidade HT's protests and gave Lauro Favoretto a yellow card for diving instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Osmar de Queirós during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Malhadas fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 9th minute. Penalty! The audience was convinced that Nilson Moreno's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nilson Faria was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. If Alan Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nilson Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilson Faria having to interfere. After 26 minutes of play, Universidade HT's Alan Macedo made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nilson Faria was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Dráuzio Paraíba in the 36th minute of play forced Universidade HT's goalkeeper Norberto Neto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nilson Faria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renan Donato in the 39th minute of play. In the 43rd minute, Universidade HT's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dráuzio Paraíba fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alan Macedo made a kick off. The supporters of Universidade HT booed when Malhadas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Campidelis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nilson Moreno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Nilson Faria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Nilson Moreno managed to get in a good position for a shot. Universidade HT's supporters rose to their feet, but Nilson Moreno was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilson Faria breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Alan Macedo sped through Malhadas's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nilson Faria. Nilson Moreno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 67th minute, Nuno Campidelis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Alan Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alan Macedo in the 76th minute of play forced Malhadas's goalkeeper Nilson Faria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80thth minute of the game Alan Macedo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Malhadas's Nilson Faria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Augusto Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norberto Neto came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Malhadas's Augusto Toledo. But to his dismay, Augusto Toledo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Nilson Moreno might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nilson Faria. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nilson Moreno ran back to his position shaking his head. Alan Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Nilson Faria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
