Faustão Mello hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Maranhense in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luiz Fábio Vides saved Taquaretinga from getting behind. In the 9th match minute, Taquaretinga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armando Vergílio to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luiz Maranhense in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luiz Fábio Vides prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bernardinho Loyola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilton Brodel having to interfere. With a little luck, Camalau's Nilton Brodel got control of the ball when Bernardinho Loyola tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nilton Brodel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bernardinho Loyola in the 19th minute. Camalau's Valdo Nóbrega got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Maranhense in the 24th minute of play forced Taquaretinga's goalkeeper Luiz Fábio Vides to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute, Luiz Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nilton Brodel was a little too slow when Osvaldo Paes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Luiz Maranhenses short, quick shot in the 62ndth minute got Luiz Fábio Vides to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Luiz Fábio Vides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdo Nóbrega in the 63rd minute of play. If Luiz Maranhense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Taquaretinga getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Armando Vergílio hit a great ball. Luiz Maranhense didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-2 via right post in the game's 70th minute. Camalau's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! If Osvaldo Paes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardinho Loyola in the 89th minute of play forced Camalau's goalkeeper Nilton Brodel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Taquaretinga's Celso Barbosa got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Camalau played a much better game than Taquaretinga and deserved their victory. The Taquaretinga players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
