Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Carlos Eduardo Souto took the kick off in the first half of the match. 3 minutes into the game, Cayaue's Jefferson Proença nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alfredinho Pernambucano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Vito Netto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cayaue's Lenílson de Godoy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinho Bezerra in the 23rd minute of play. In the 29th minute, Carlos Eduardo Souto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vito Netto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Lenílson de Godoy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 33 minutes, Vivaldo Motta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cayaue and the VASCO DA GAMA players grew even worse after the yellow card. Vivaldo Motta kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 35th minute, Nico Vinhas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Claudinho Bezerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vito Netto in the 40th minute of play forced Cayaue's goalkeeper Lenílson de Godoy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Josué Gaúcho's late challenge caught a VASCO DA GAMA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Josué Gaúcho helped the player get up and apologised. In the 46th match minute, VASCO DA GAMA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Paulo Alagoano to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudinho Bezerra to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Claudinho Bezerra reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Lenílson de Godoy. The goal made the score 2-3. If Vito Netto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudinho Bezerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Lenílson de Godoy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Anísio Hoffmann fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored VASCO DA GAMA's protests and gave Anísio Hoffmann a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to VASCO DA GAMA getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Anísio Hoffmann hit a great ball. Jefferson Proença received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Alfredinho Pernambucano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 79 played minutes Cayaue got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Eduardo Souto. VASCO DA GAMA's Claudinho Bezerra got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Carlos Eduardo Souto came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Cayaue fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Eduardo Souto couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, VASCO DA GAMA's Ernesto Corrêa got a free kick in the 84th minute. Claudinho Bezerra received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Lenílson de Godoy came out and tried to block the shot, but Claudinho Bezerra slotted it home off the left post making it 2-4 in the 86th minute. When Vivaldo Motta was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 92 minutes had been played. The supporters of VASCO DA GAMA booed when Cayaue was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vivaldo Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lenílson de Godoy was a little too slow when Claudinho Bezerra got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 96th minute. The score was now 2-5.
