After 3 minutes, Durvalino de Amaral mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Imburi and the Aresta FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Raúl Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseu Dias in the 6th minute of play. Raúl Chaves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eliseu Dias's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Raúl Chaves made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Eduardo Azevedo sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eduardo Azevedo got free with Raúl Chaves in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Aresta FC booed when Imburi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilmar Duarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute, Célio Trancoso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rodriguinho Soares was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 23rd minute, Gilmar Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aloísio Dracena kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Raúl Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseu Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. A collision led to Imburi getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Aloísio Dracena hit a great ball. Eduardo Azevedo came free with the goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Raúl Chaves could save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseu Dias in the 32nd minute of play forced Imburi's goalkeeper Raúl Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 37 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Eliseu Dias sped through Imburi's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Raúl Chaves. If Célio Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Amílton Velasco made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Aresta FC's zone, Célio Trancoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodriguinho Soares came out of the goal and Célio Trancoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eduardo Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Raúl Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Eduardo Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodriguinho Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amílton Velasco in the 59th minute of the match. After having played for 63 minutes, Eliseu Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aresta FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseu Dias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eliseu Dias might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Raúl Chaves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eliseu Dias ran back to his position shaking his head. Eliseu Dias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Amílton Velasco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Imburi's supporters rose to their feet, but Amílton Velasco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodriguinho Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eduardo Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eduardo Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Raúl Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eduardo Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rodriguinho Soares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amílton Velasco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
