The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Maurinho da Fonseca charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maurinho da Fonseca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 3rd match minute, Tauary was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maurinho da Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. Woodbine FC's Kauã Passos couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 4th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Tauary. After a rather tough play, Woodbine FC's Frederico de Queiroz got a free kick in the 11th minute. The supporters of Tauary booed when Woodbine FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldinho Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Antônio Brito, 13 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dinei Rosado in the 20th minute of play forced Woodbine FC's goalkeeper João Vítor Abraão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bernardinho França showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guilherme Maranhense in the 22nd minute of the match. Agnaldo Monteiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. João Vítor Abraão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Tauary booed when Woodbine FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kauã Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Vítor Abraão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dinei Rosado, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Woodbine FC's goalkeeper João Vítor Abraão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. João Vítor Abraão was out of position in the 37 minute of play, and Dinei Rosado capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dinei Rosado really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Agnaldo Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tauary's supporters rose to their feet, but Agnaldo Monteiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Vítor Abraão breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Agnaldo Monteiro struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. João Vítor Abraão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tauary.

If Alessandro Vasconcelos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 53 minutes into the game, one of Tauary:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 54th minute there was a penalty for Woodbine FC. Kauã Passos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Bernardinho França. 2-1. Agnaldo Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th minute Dinei Rosado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Vítor Abraão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 68 played minutes Tauary got a freekick which was hit by Jorginho Secco. In the 71st minute, Agnaldo Monteiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Agnaldo Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Woodbine FC defense, Dinei Rosado kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Vítor Abraão. The Woodbine FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Vítor Abraão should have stopped the shot. Woodbine FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
