The supporters of Guajaratuba AD booed when Vila da Penha EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bebeto Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 11 played minutes, Guajaratuba AD's Luís Fernando de Amorim shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sílvio Luís Souto came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Guajaratuba AD reached it. Laerte Borges charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Gabriel Maciel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hortêncio Vides, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Guajaratuba AD's Valdo Garcia slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sílvio Luís Souto. That made the score 3-0 after 46 minutes of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hortêncio Vides to strike the kick off in the second half. Gilmar Sá was shown his second yellow card after 53 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 54 played minutes Vila da Penha EC got a freekick which was hit by Gilmar Sá. The supporters of Vila da Penha EC booed when Guajaratuba AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vila da Penha EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guajaratuba AD the free kick. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Guajaratuba AD fans cheered their team off the field, for while Vila da Penha EC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
