The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Leão Dourado Futebol Club's zone, Ronaldo Sarmento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Samuel de Senna came out of the goal and Ronaldo Sarmento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Leão Dourado Futebol Club's Dedé Simões got a free kick in the 11th minute. Gabriel Vander took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 18th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Samuel de Senna. Leão Dourado Futebol Club's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Ronaldo Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Niteroi AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Ronaldo Sarmento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Samuel de Senna breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Leão Dourado Futebol Club's zone, Deivid Pereira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Samuel de Senna came out of the goal and Deivid Pereira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With his leg Samuel de Senna managed to avoid a goal in the 28thth minute, when Niteroi AD's Ronaldo Sarmento fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 30 minutes into the match, Leão Dourado Futebol Club's goalkeeper Samuel de Senna had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ronaldo Sarmento. 31 minutes into the match, Niteroi AD's Ronaldo Sarmento sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Samuel de Senna narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Patrício Moraes charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patrício Moraes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 33rd match minute, Niteroi AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrício Moraes to maneuver through the defense. Cássio Batista struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Agostinho Paiva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leão Dourado Futebol Club. If Luís Paulo Chaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Deivid Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís Paulo Chaves was the one to do the kick off. Ronaldo Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 56 played minutes Niteroi AD got a freekick which was hit by Patrício Moraes. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Paulo Chaves in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Agostinho Paiva saved Niteroi AD from getting behind. Cássio Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Ronaldo Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Luís Paulo Chaves succeeded in the game's 69th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. After having played for 74 minutes, Ronaldo Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Niteroi AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldo Sarmento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luís Paulo Chaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
