In the 19th minute Betinho Trigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anderson Saraiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Rinare booed when Separacao AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benê Brito didn't get a good kick on the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Rinare's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinei Tavares came free, but Anderson Saraiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Brasil got free with Anderson Saraiva in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinei Tavares in the 39th minute of play forced Rinare's goalkeeper Anderson Saraiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Alberto Brasil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 3-1 became the score in the 47th minute when Claudinei Tavares elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudinei Tavares to make the kick off. Serginho Lira hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. A collision led to Separacao AD getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Leopoldo Bittencourt hit a great ball. Luís Fábio Garcia charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Separacao AD's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
