JD LAVINIA F.C's Geraldo Gonçalves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save JD LAVINIA F.C from getting a goal against them. Waldir Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcelo Abraão kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. The supporters of JD LAVINIA F.C booed when Tacaratu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Waldir Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frederico Macedo hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute, Jonas Viana ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Leandro de Toledo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Waldir Galvão who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Geraldo Gonçalves when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Waldir Galvão in the 25thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Geraldo Gonçalves, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcelo Abraão during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 28th minute, one of JD LAVINIA F.C:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for JD LAVINIA F.C. Thanks to some nice moves Waldir Galvão could shoot a difficult shot in the 32nd minute, which Geraldo Gonçalves however easily saved by the left post. Waldir Galvão in the 33rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Geraldo Gonçalves, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Mário Vinhas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo José Azevedo in the 41st minute of play forced JD LAVINIA F.C's goalkeeper Geraldo Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Waldir Galvão's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Geraldo Gonçalves firmly grabbed it by the left post. Jonas Viana struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Leandro de Toledo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for JD LAVINIA F.C. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jonas Viana to make the kick off. Waldir Galvão struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Geraldo Gonçalves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tacaratu. Jonas Viana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Leandro de Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 69 minutes, Jonas Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. JD LAVINIA F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonas Viana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 72 minutes into the game, Paulo José Azevedo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Geraldo Gonçalves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Osvaldo Pontes kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Gabriel Porto was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 85 minutes into the match. Geraldo Gonçalves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sílvio Teles in the 89th minute of play. Frederico Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Leandro de Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 94th minute Paulo José Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geraldo Gonçalves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Magno Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leandro de Toledo having to interfere.
