The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erik Sá during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Erik Sá hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After 23 minutes of play, Ec Vitória's Belmiro Tinoco made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Manfredo Ferreira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Renato Soares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mané Catarinense having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Belmiro Tinoco fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Edmílson de Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Erik Sá got his second yellow card in the match during the 48th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 49 played minutes Bononi got a freekick which was hit by Erik Sá. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

55 minutes into the match, Bononi's goal looked a bit too open when Durvalino Schmidt came free, but Manfredo Ferreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durvalino Schmidt in the 78th minute of play forced Bononi's goalkeeper Manfredo Ferreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Ec Vitória support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
