The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of Mesquita Futebol Clube:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Orleans:s goal. 9 minutes into the match, Mesquita Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Sandrinho Tasso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dráusio Travassos. After 11 played minutes Orleans got a freekick which was hit by Dráuzio Paiva. In the 13th minute, João Francisco de Salles ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cláudio Correia was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. João Francisco de Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Correia having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Genílson Ortiz in the 18th minute of play forced Mesquita Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Sandrinho Tasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Orleans's Dráusio Travassos got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mesquita Futebol Clube's Sandrinho Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Genílson Ortiz in the 21st minute of play. José Carlos Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chico Coutinho in the 25th minute of play forced Mesquita Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Sandrinho Tasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, João Francisco de Salles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dráusio Travassos came free with the goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Sandrinho Tasso could save by the left post. After having played for 29 minutes, Dráusio Travassos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Orleans's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dráusio Travassos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Orleans's Dráusio Travassos got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Genílson Ortiz struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Sandrinho Tasso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Orleans. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Genílson Ortiz to make the kick off. Sandrinho Tasso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Genílson Ortiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Orleans's Cláudio Correia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Orleans from getting a goal against them. Dráusio Travassos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandrinho Tasso having to interfere. Genílson Ortiz scored 3-1 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sandrinho Tasso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dráuzio Paiva hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. A collision led to Mesquita Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. João Francisco de Salles hit a great ball. Dráusio Travassos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandrinho Tasso having to interfere. If José Carlos Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Orleans walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
