In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sophia AJ Clube's goalkeeper Richard Baptista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Walmir Ceresso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Richard Baptista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th match minute, Sophia AJ Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Netto to maneuver through the defense. 39 minutes into the match, Valdir Nunes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Richard Baptista, 3-0. Thomás Soeiro hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. If Walmir Ceresso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Almir Duarte charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 97 played minutes, Sport Club paulista's Zé Pedro Miranda shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Richard Baptista came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sport Club paulista reached it. When the referee ended the match the Sport Club paulista players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
