Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Valdir Linares started the match with the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 11th minute by Valdir Linares got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Wágner Salgado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Dorival Maciel made a huge save. In the 19th minute Valdir Linares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dorival Maciel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dorival Maciel made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Wágner Salgado sent off a good shot on target. 24 minutes into the match, Mutuca SS's goal looked a bit too open when Genílson Maranhense came free, but André Pombal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir Linares in the 47th minute of play forced Massape EC's goalkeeper Dorival Maciel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rui Cunha to make the kick off. In the 56th minute, Valdir Linares left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mutuca SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Valdir Linares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Mutuca SS's Régis Barros couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 79th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Massape EC. If Valdir Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
