In the 3rd minute Duarte Dante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durval Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Duarte Dante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Duarte Dante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Durval Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, Vigia's goalkeeper Válbson Custódio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Celso Miranda. When Eliseu Quintal came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Vigia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eliseu Quintal couldn't finish the play. If Eliseu Quintal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Itahy's Durval Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseu Quintal in the 27th minute of play. After 31 played minutes Vigia got a freekick which was hit by Mazinho Netto. Eliseu Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 37th minute, Maicon Furlan sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Itahy's Durval Medeiros didn't even have to move. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eliseu Quintal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itahy's goalkeeper Durval Medeiros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Duarte Dante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 58 minutes into the game, Vigia's Duarte Dante nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Durval Medeiros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After having played for 63 minutes, Duarte Dante managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vigia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duarte Dante was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Vigia's Eliseu Quintal in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Itahy's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling André Luiz Almeida in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Válbson Custódio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Celso Miranda struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Válbson Custódio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itahy. 73 minutes into the match, Vigia's goal looked a bit too open when André Luiz Almeida came free, but Válbson Custódio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júlio Pinho's late challenge caught a Vigia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Júlio Pinho helped the player get up and apologised. After 80 played minutes, Itahy's Jefferson Simão shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Válbson Custódio came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Itahy reached it. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Eliseu Quintal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vigia's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliseu Quintal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Durval Medeiros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Duarte Dante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durval Medeiros having to interfere. Durval Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseu Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute.
