Manfredo Faria started the match with the kick off. Quicamar EC's Sandrinho Pernambucano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Quicamar EC from getting a goal against them. Jailson Mesquita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Fernando de Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. After a rather tough play, VIDA NOVA ATLÉTICO CLUB's Abel Aparecido got a free kick in the 20th minute. Jailson Mesquita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Fernando de Senna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, Quicamar EC's goalkeeper Sandrinho Pernambucano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Fabiano Chaves. Joélson Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandrinho Pernambucano having to interfere. If Luís Fabiano Chaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sandrinho Pernambucano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joélson Sousa in the 33rd minute of the match. Jailson Mesquita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manfredo Faria in the 35th minute of play. After 42 minutes, José Paulo Brito mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VIDA NOVA ATLÉTICO CLUB and the Quicamar EC players grew even worse after the yellow card.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joélson Sousa was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute, Luís Fabiano Chaves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 58 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Quicamar EC! Sandrinho Pernambucano had in the 59thth minute some difficulties stopping Abel Aparecido's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The audience was convinced that Joélson Sousa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sandrinho Pernambucano was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manfredo Faria in the 72nd minute of play forced VIDA NOVA ATLÉTICO CLUB's goalkeeper Jailson Mesquita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Manfredo Faria kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jailson Mesquita. That made the score 1-1 in the 82 minute of play. Jailson Mesquita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manfredo Faria in the 87th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in VIDA NOVA ATLÉTICO CLUB's zone, Manfredo Faria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jailson Mesquita came out of the goal and Manfredo Faria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Manfredo Faria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jailson Mesquita having to interfere.
