The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hílton Mesquita to strike the kick off in the second half. If Simão Bastos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luizinho Paulista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abelardo Bueno having to interfere. In the 59th minute Simão Bastos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abelardo Bueno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hílton Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Castanhao SS's Abelardo Bueno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simão Bastos in the 86th minute of play. In the 90th minute, Luizinho Paulista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dida Miranda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hílton Mesquita in the 91st minute of play. In the 94th minute, Hílton Mesquita fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post.
