After some careless play in the Paz AD defense, Luisão Mendonça kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tiago Mendonça. The Paz AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tiago Mendonça should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luciano de Amorim in the 7th minute of play forced Paz AD's goalkeeper Tiago Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grêmio PX's Maurinho Tasso got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luisão Mendonça got free with Tiago Mendonça in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 19 minutes into the game, Adolfo Queirós was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paz AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grêmio PX the free kick. After a rather tough play, Paz AD's Adolfo Queirós got a free kick in the 19th minute. Paz AD's Sandrinho de Almeida got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Guedes scored 1-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vitinho Aparecido, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 31st minute, Edinho Mattos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Sandrinho de Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paz AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Sandrinho de Almeida was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vitinho Aparecido breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Carlos Guedes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vitinho Aparecido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandrinho de Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the match, Grêmio PX's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Guedes came free, but Vitinho Aparecido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Sandrinho de Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute, Carlos Guedes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dalmo Vinhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vítor Capixaba kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After 47 minutes, Maurinho Tasso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grêmio PX and the Paz AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 47 played minutes Grêmio PX got a freekick which was hit by Maurinho Tasso. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luciano de Amorim made a kick off. In the 51st match minute, Paz AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Guedes to maneuver through the defense. The referee gave Grêmio PX a penalty, 54 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Edinho Mattos, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Paz AD's Tiago Mendonça. 2-1. Vitinho Aparecido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Guedes, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Vitinho Aparecido was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Carlos Guedes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Carlos Guedes really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. Sandrinho de Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Vitinho Aparecido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Paz AD getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Dalmo Vinhas hit a great ball. In the 86th minute, Luciano de Amorim left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Grêmio PX fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Vitinho Aparecido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Guedes in the 90th minute of play. Carlos Guedes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vitinho Aparecido came out and tried to block the shot, but Carlos Guedes slotted it home off the left post making it 3-3 in the 93rd minute. During the 96th minute of the match Maurinho Tasso completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Maurinho Tasso a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Paz AD booed when Grêmio PX was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurinho Tasso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Guedes in the 98th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vitinho Aparecido prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Paz AD were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Grêmio PX to leave the ground with a draw.
