After 10 minutes, Juninho Nogueira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guaxupe and the Curaca EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 9th minute of the game. One of Guaxupe:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Curaca EC:s goal. 16 minutes into the match, Tomé Mesquita notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Curaca EC's Emerson de Brito. Emerson de Brito was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cauã Mumbach blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Penha having to make a save. Luisão Mumbach received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Ricardo Penha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 25 played minutes Curaca EC got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldo Palmeira. Tomé Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 30th minute Cauã Mumbach shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Penha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Luisão Mumbach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luisão Mumbach struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Ricardo Penha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Curaca EC. Ricardo Penha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luisão Mumbach's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Tomé Mesquita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emerson de Brito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guaxupe's goalkeeper Ricardo Penha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Luisão Mumbach managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curaca EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luisão Mumbach was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Penha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cauã Mumbach fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Penha having to interfere. Emerson de Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomé Mesquita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Raimundo de Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luisão Mumbach did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-3 to the left of a surprised Ricardo Penha 96 minutes into the match. Curaca EC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
