The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tibúrcio Ferraz hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Dionísio Mazza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antônio Leite in the 8th minute of the match. Real Guedes's Betão Medeiros managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Nelsinho Vinhas in the 10 minute of the game. Luís Fábio Moreira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Betão Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rafael Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Tibúrcio Ferraz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 25th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Paulo Renato Arruda. Real Guedes's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Ituano's Tibúrcio Ferraz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulo Renato Arruda narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 27 minutes into the game, Roger Chaves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ituano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Real Guedes the free kick. Paulo Renato Arruda made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Luís Fábio Moreira sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Ituano defense, Antônio Leite kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dionísio Mazza. The Ituano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dionísio Mazza should have stopped the shot. Tibúrcio Ferraz kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Antônio Leite made a precise shot to the right of Dionísio Mazza. Ituano's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. The Ituano players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Real Guedes were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Antônio Leite made the kick off in the second half. Betão Medeiros struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Dionísio Mazza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Real Guedes. Joaquim Recife sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Antônio Leite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Dionísio Mazza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulo Renato Arruda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 64th minute, Luís Fábio Moreira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ituano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Paulo Renato Arruda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Fábio Moreira in the 70th minute of the match. Tibúrcio Ferraz took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo Renato Arruda. Paulo Renato Arruda dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. In the 76th minute Luís Fábio Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Renato Arruda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zé Roberto Mello hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Chaves in the 86th minute of play forced Real Guedes's goalkeeper Paulo Renato Arruda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Antônio Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Fábio Moreira in the 91st minute of play forced Real Guedes's goalkeeper Paulo Renato Arruda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 91 played minutes Real Guedes got a freekick which was hit by Betão Medeiros. In the 93rd minute, Antônio Leite hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute of the match Eriberto Rocha shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulo Renato Arruda showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 96th match minute, Real Guedes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafael Reis to maneuver through the defense. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
