A sloppy throw-in by Tarcisio Abraão in the 3rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Chelsea F.C's Arlindo Porto. Tomás Pontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélder Marques having to interfere. Hélder Marques stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Albertinho Gerber's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Albertinho Gerber sped through SC Gramado's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Hélder Marques. Basílio Vinhas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serafim Dracena, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Albertinho Gerber in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hélder Marques saved SC Gramado from getting behind. Tomás Pontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute, Albertinho Gerber ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hélder Marques was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomás Pontes in the 21st minute of play forced SC Gramado's goalkeeper Hélder Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22ndth minute of the game Tomás Pontes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Gramado's Hélder Marques was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 23rd minute, Serafim Dracena fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Basílio Vinhas, passed just outside the right post. In the 25th minute, Albertinho Gerber got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 29thth minute of the game Tomás Pontes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Gramado's Hélder Marques was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 30 minutes, Albertinho Gerber made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. SC Gramado's Hélder Marques tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Jonathan de Alcântara struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Basílio Vinhas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Gramado. With 36 minutes on the clock, Kléberson Proença commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 35th minute of the game. One of Chelsea F.C:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of SC Gramado:s goal. Arí Melo shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Albertinho Gerber recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 47 minutes, Durval Mello managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chelsea F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Durval Mello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Chelsea F.C's Kevin Stifter was substituted for Cláudio Ramos. The SC Gramado players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Chelsea F.C were winning 0-3.

Hélder Marques didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Chelsea F.C's Albertinho Gerber shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-4 in the ordered_time% minute. The Chelsea F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Basílio Vinhas should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in SC Gramado's zone, Albertinho Gerber stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélder Marques came out of the goal and Albertinho Gerber tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan de Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basílio Vinhas having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Chelsea F.C left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than SC Gramado.
