Anselmo Brodel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In a very dangerous position, a player in Itamuri fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 18th minute. Penalty! After some careless play in the Wales defense, Anselmo Brodel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Waldemar Viana. The Wales fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Waldemar Viana should have stopped the shot. In the 30th minute of the match Bruno Garcia shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Waldemar Viana showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Dadá Queirós sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patrick Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldemar Viana having to interfere. Waldemar Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Seco, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Itamuri's César Saraiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dadá Queirós in the 45th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

When the match had been going on for 53 minutes, Itamuri's Eusébio Marques got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Waldemar Viana. Itamuri's César Saraiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edu Perez in the 60th minute of play. César Saraiva came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Wales's Dadá Queirós. But to his dismay, Dadá Queirós quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Patrick Seco put it in 2-4 from a short distance just to the right of Waldemar Viana. Patrick Seco kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Anselmo Brodel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Waldemar Viana made an important save on a dangerous shot by Anselmo Brodel in the 89th minute. Gugu Cardozo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Waldemar Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A very good chance. 96 minutes into the match, Wales's Edu Perez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that César Saraiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Walmir Ortiz hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. In the 99th minute the ball was on its way in behind Wales's goalkeeper Waldemar Viana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match was over Itamuri could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Wales throughout the match.
