Leopoldo Gonçalves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betão Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Agenor Monteiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dedê Chaves was the one to do the kick off. 56 minutes into the match, C E Aimoré's goalkeeper Agenor Monteiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Paulo Carioca. With a little luck, C E Aimoré's Agenor Monteiro got control of the ball when Luís Paulo Carioca tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dedê Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Gonçalves having to interfere.
