Pedrinho Guimarães came out of the goal and Ricardinho Gonçalves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raí Amaral hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Murillo Rodrigues managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rubineia AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Murillo Rodrigues was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vicente Faria breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 42 minutes, Murillo Rodrigues managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rubineia AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Murillo Rodrigues was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Basílio Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ricardinho Gonçalves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pedrinho Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardinho Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. An unexpected shot in the 64th minute by Murillo Rodrigues got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ricardinho Gonçalves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedrinho Guimarães read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. In the 68th minute, Luís Fábio Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rubineia AD's Murillo Rodrigues was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 72nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Pedrinho Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardinho Gonçalves in the 76th minute of play. If Basílio Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Isaltino Passos hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. Rubineia AD's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
