Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dagoberto Souto made the kick off and thus started the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cayru's zone, Marco Messias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olavo Madureira came out of the goal and Marco Messias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Marco Messias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itapicuma's supporters rose to their feet, but Marco Messias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olavo Madureira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dagoberto Souto scored 0-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernandão Albuquerque, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 31st minute Marco Messias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olavo Madureira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fernandão Albuquerque took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tião Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tião Miranda hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 43rd minute, João Augusto Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cayru's Nilton Félix suffered a sore thigh after 45 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by João Adolfo Figueiredo during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 46th minute, João Adolfo Figueiredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marco Messias stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Messias in the 54th minute of play forced Cayru's goalkeeper Olavo Madureira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Messias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Itapicuma's Alfredo de Sena was substituted for Marco Messias. Itapicuma's Sílvio Fernandez was substituted for Douglas Fantini. Tião Miranda was extremely unlucky when he, in the 84th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Emerson Rodrigues could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Fernandão Albuquerque made a huge save. In the 92nd match minute, Itapicuma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo de Sena to maneuver through the defense. After 95 played minutes Itapicuma got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fabiano Mattos. The Itapicuma fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Cayru were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
