If Lúcio Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Beto Santana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lúcio Ribeiro in the 14th minute of play. A collision led to Flamengo getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Víktor Vinhas hit a great ball. 21 minutes into the match, Flamengo's goal looked a bit too open when Eurico Alcântara came free, but Basílio de Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Flamengo defense, Eurico Alcântara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Basílio de Barros. The Flamengo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Basílio de Barros should have stopped the shot. Eurico Alcântara blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Basílio de Barros having to make a save. In the 34th minute of the match Flamengo got a corner. Liliza F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nicolas Garcia ran over to the corner to take the kick. Flamengo's Nicolas Garcia was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Beto Santana in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Beto Santana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Fernando Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Basílio de Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dagoberto Mota, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute.

The wind increased when Dagoberto Mota made the kick off in the second half. Beto Santana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lúcio Ribeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 59 minutes into the match, Flamengo's goalkeeper Basílio de Barros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eurico Alcântara. Lúcio Ribeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Flamengo booed when Liliza F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Vander didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 75 minutes, Bernardinho Salles made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Liliza F.C.'s Beto Santana tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 79 minutes of play, Flamengo's Bernardinho Salles made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Beto Santana was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nicolas Garcia was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 84th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Geovânio Loyola charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Geovânio Loyola the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 88th match minute, Liliza F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geovânio Loyola to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Liliza F.C.'s Dagoberto Mota slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Basílio de Barros. That made the score 3-3 after 91 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardinho Salles in the 95th minute of play forced Liliza F.C.'s goalkeeper Beto Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
