Fabrício Galvão charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabrício Galvão the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 4 minutes into the game, one of Papary EC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 6 minutes, Pão de açúcar coraçãozin's Adelino Teles got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jorge Zonta. In the 13th minute Claudinho Freire shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Zonta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amadeu Rossi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anísio Maranhense having to interfere. Papary EC's Jorge Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso de Mendonça in the 26th minute of play. If Téo Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Papary EC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Téo Correia fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Téo Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 45 played minutes Pão de açúcar coraçãozin got a freekick which was hit by Valdomiro Pombal. If Fabrício Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Téo Correia was the one to do the kick off. Téo Correia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Zonta having to interfere. Papary EC's Jorge Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso de Mendonça in the 55th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Papary EC's zone, Narciso de Mendonça stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Zonta came out of the goal and Narciso de Mendonça tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jorge Zonta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Téo Correia in the 67th minute of play. Fernão Cunha charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fernão Cunha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Pão de açúcar coraçãozin getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Fernão Cunha hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Téo Correia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pão de açúcar coraçãozin's supporters rose to their feet, but Téo Correia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Zonta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Narciso de Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Zonta having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Narciso de Mendonça in the 92nd minute of play forced Papary EC's goalkeeper Jorge Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Narciso de Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Zonta having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Pão de açúcar coraçãozin fully deserved thier win.
