Fluminense FC's Laerte Borges got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Laerte Borges blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Javier Izel having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovani Terra in the 18th minute of play forced Fluminense FC's goalkeeper Zé Pedro Donatello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elias Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Fábio Ramos hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Javier Izel made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Laerte Borges sent off a good shot on target. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guaxinduva SS's goalkeeper Javier Izel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cristiano Baiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Zé Pedro Donatello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Fluminense FC's zone, Geovani Terra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. After having played for 39 minutes, Geovani Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guaxinduva SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geovani Terra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 45th minute, Geovani Terra ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Pedro Donatello was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The Fluminense FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Guaxinduva SS were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Andrézinho de Sena made a kick off. If Geovani Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Zé Pedro Donatello made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elias Borges in the 53rd minute. The supporters of Guaxinduva SS booed when Fluminense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andrézinho de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastian Szel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Elias Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 68 minutes into the match, Guaxinduva SS's Geovani Terra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zé Pedro Donatello narrowly saved just below the crossbar. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elias Borges couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geovani Terra got free with Zé Pedro Donatello in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sebastian Szel might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Pedro Donatello. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sebastian Szel ran back to his position shaking his head. Elias Borges could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Zé Pedro Donatello made a huge save. Laerte Borges's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Javier Izel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Javier Izel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laerte Borges in the 93rd minute of the match. Javier Izel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laerte Borges, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. When the match was over Guaxinduva SS could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Fluminense FC throughout the match.
