Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Telmo Monteiro in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bebeto de Queirós prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Varginha F.C.'s Noel Hames got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Oscar Penha in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Yuri Netto saved Vila barro branco from getting behind. In the 21st minute, Luís Fabiano Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yuri Netto stood somewhat misplaced when Noel Hames came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 23 minute. Varginha F.C.'s Bebeto de Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Hermes in the 29th minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Varginha F.C.'s Oscar Penha dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Jaime Matorin charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jaime Matorin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 36th minute, Jaime Matorin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oscar Penha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute José Hermes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bebeto de Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, Telmo Monteiro notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Varginha F.C.'s Bebeto de Queirós. Bebeto de Queirós was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Oscar Penha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Leopoldo Rodrigues took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Yuri Netto. Yuri Netto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. After a defensive mix-up in Varginha F.C.'s zone, José Hermes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bebeto de Queirós came out of the goal and José Hermes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Varginha F.C. getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Tomé Braga hit a great ball. Vila barro branco's Telmo Monteiro got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If José Hermes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 68 minutes into the match, Varginha F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Telmo Monteiro came free, but Bebeto de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Telmo Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bebeto de Queirós having to interfere. Oscar Penha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Yuri Netto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Noel Hames might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Yuri Netto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Noel Hames ran back to his position shaking his head. 86 minutes into the game, Varginha F.C.'s Oscar Penha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Yuri Netto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. Varginha F.C.'s supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
