The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 16 minutes into the game, Arlindo Donato cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Hermínio Saldanha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Waldir Machado hit a great ball. Kraken EC's Fábio Meirelles came free and shot a quick shot against goal 21 minutes in the game, fortunately Luiz Fernando Barros had problems saving as it came toward the left post. After 21 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Giovanni Leal. 28 minutes into the game, Eliseu Meirelles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kraken EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chile the free kick. A collision led to Kraken EC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Eliseu Meirelles hit a great ball. Benjamim Mello was extremely unlucky when he, in the 31st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 41st minute, Kraken EC's Fábio Meirelles dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Hermínio Saldanha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arlindo Donato, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 52nd minute, Benjamim Mello made a precise shot to the right of Luiz Fernando Barros. Chile's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Luiz Fernando Barros didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Cerezo went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. In the 61st minute Fábio Meirelles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fernando Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fernão Madureira who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 66thth minute tested the skills of Hermínio Saldanha when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arlindo Donato in the 71st minute of play forced Kraken EC's goalkeeper Hermínio Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benjamim Vander kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. When Kraken EC's Fábio Meirelles in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chile's goalie prevented a goal. If Fábio Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benjamim Mello struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Joel Cerezo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Fernando Barros came out of the goal and Joel Cerezo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Giovanni Leal during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Kraken EC booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giovanni Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kraken EC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
