ABANDONADO's Betinho Alagoano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arlindo Donato in the 8th minute of play. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Betinho Alagoano showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With his leg Luiz Fernando Barros managed to avoid a goal in the 13thth minute, when ABANDONADO's Geraldo de Senna fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Betinho Alagoano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernão Madureira in the 17th minute of play. Geraldo de Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Luiz Fernando Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Didi de Sousa during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, ABANDONADO's Didi de Sousa got a free kick in the 31st minute. Arí Neves struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Luiz Fernando Barros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ABANDONADO. Arlindo Donato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Arí Neves made the kick off in the second half. Betinho Alagoano yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. 55 minutes into the match, ABANDONADO's goalkeeper Betinho Alagoano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernão Madureira. In the 55th match minute, ABANDONADO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gernando Negri to maneuver through the defense. Fernão Madureira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Betinho Alagoano having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hernani Peixoto during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hernani Peixoto kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Chile's Waldir Machado shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 71st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Betinho Alagoano but with some difficulty. After 83 played minutes ABANDONADO got a freekick which was hit by Remo Mazza. After a rather tough play, ABANDONADO's Sidnei de Senna got a free kick in the 91st minute. 93 minutes into the game, ABANDONADO's Arí Neves nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luiz Fernando Barros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Chile eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
