In the 69th minute, one of Toheroa:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Toheroa. In the 70th minute there was a penalty for Jucururu. Umberto Sarmento stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Gil Simões. 1-0. After 73 played minutes Jucururu got a freekick which was hit by Gilson de Alcântara. The supporters of Toheroa booed when Jucururu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilson de Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jucururu's Erivaldo do Valle proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Jucururu from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fabrício Munhoz got free with Erivaldo do Valle in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Toheroa's goalkeeper Gil Simões, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Fabrício Munhoz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Luciano Favoretto came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Toheroa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luciano Favoretto couldn't finish the play. After having played for 97 minutes, Frédson Hermes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jucururu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frédson Hermes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jucururu's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
