After 21 minutes, Geovani Paulista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Peho FC and the Juiz de Fora Team players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 20th minute of the game. One of Peho FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Juiz de Fora Team:s goal. Peho FC:s Paulo Renato Moreno showed great skill when he stopped Jano da Silva:s penalty. Juninho Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Neves in the 25th minute of play. Juninho Maranhense was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Francisco Neves capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Francisco Neves really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Paulo Renato Moreno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evaristo de Alcântara in the 40th minute of the match. Ademar Correia hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
