The San miguel fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Andrézinho Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Rueiros fans' excitement grew in the 21st match minute when Rueiros's Dino da Mata looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 28 played minutes Rueiros got a freekick which was hit by Silas Souto. The supporters of Rueiros booed when San miguel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Severo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rueiros's Dino da Mata got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Andrézinho Luz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Luisão Motta made a huge save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Zé Augusto Berger made the kick off in the second half. San miguel's Luisão Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dino da Mata in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Dino da Mata had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luisão Motta. San miguel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Augusto Berger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
