To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Abel Andrade came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Cuipiranga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abel Andrade couldn't finish the play. Doriva Sá showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlinhos Netto, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doriva Brasil in the 16th minute of play forced Cuipiranga's goalkeeper Doriva Sá to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edu Cruz hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. After 19 played minutes Cuipiranga got a freekick which was hit by José Paulo Pernambucano. Tangerina's Carlinhos Netto got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 22 played minutes Tangerina got a freekick which was hit by Kléber Andrade. Abel Andrade who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Silvério Recife when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 28 minutes into the game, Chico de Sena was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tangerina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cuipiranga the free kick. The supporters of Cuipiranga booed when Tangerina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chico de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cuipiranga's Hugo de Senna couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 29th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Tangerina. With his leg Silvério Recife managed to avoid a goal in the 31stth minute, when Cuipiranga's Abel Andrade fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Edu Cruz struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Silvério Recife didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cuipiranga. 34 minutes into the match, Tangerina's goalkeeper Silvério Recife had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abel Andrade. Doriva Brasil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Edu Cruz came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Cuipiranga fans jumped to their feet. Cuipiranga's Edu Cruz got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
